Under-Graduate: B.Sc. Electronics and Communication Science.

➢ The Department of Electronics and Communication Science was started in the year 2015 with the approval of the University of Madras.

 

Year Course & Duration Eligibility

Sanctioned Strength 2015 B. Sc Electronics & Communication Science (3 Years – Full Time)

A passin the higher secondary examination conducted by state HSC / Central Board of School Education with Physics or Mathematics or Computer Science or an examination as equivalent thereto by the syndicate.

A pass in three years Diploma in EC/EE/E&I conducted by the DOTE or an examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the syndicate for lateral entry admission to B.Sc. ECS on par with BCA course.

Vision

To offer the knowledge to our young dynamic students with global standard in the field of Electronics and Communication Science and to prepare them to be competitive, technocrat, employable and socio-ethical for the progress of entire society at large.

➢ To train the students with fundamental and current trends in the field of Electronics and Communication to meet the mounting challenges of the industry.

➢ To endow with high-class education through effective learning practices for their career and higher education.

➢ To enrich the students with self-learning and technical skills.

 

Features of the Department

➢ The Department of Electronics and Communication Science was started in the year 2015 with the approval of the University of Madras.

➢ The Undergraduate B.Sc. ECS course was started with the sanctioned strength of 50 seats.

➢ From the academic year 2017-18, additional section has been approved by University of Madras for the intake of 100 seats.

➢ The course helps to equip the students with knowledge in advanced technology and use Electronic equipment with proper understanding and with adequate training.

➢ The Electronics Laboratory is well equipped with modern electronic equipment and can accommodate 50 students in one batch to improve their practical skills by doing experiments.

➢ The lab is well equipped with 8051 Microcontroller, 8085 Microprocessor kits and Digital Storage Oscilloscopes (DSO’s).

➢ The department has dedicated and highly qualified faculty members.

➢ The department students regularly participate in seminars, workshop and project expo to explore the technical knowledge.

➢ The Electronics and communication science lab also carters the students to do mini projects and enable to learn C programming and OOPS concepts.

➢ Also, the lab is utilized for their self-practical experiments beyond the syllabus such as robotics, Arduino and wireless modules-based experiments.

 

ECS - DEPARTMENT MILESTONE

2015 Department of ECS is established and approved by University of Madras.

2016 Department Club TESA Inaugurated.

2017 The intake sanctioned with 100 seats by the University of Madras.

2018 Secured two University Ranks.

2019 Accredited with NAAC

2020 Released first Department Newsletter - Electronics Newsbytes

 

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

Electronic science includes physical electronics, optoelectronics and microelectronics. It is a broad discipline with a most advantageous merge of Electronics, Communication and fundamentals of Computing Science. This is one of the rare courses which give the students a strong foundation to pursue their careers in the research and industry.

 

CAREER AND HIGHER EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES:

❖ After the successful completion of the course, students have wide opportunities to get placements in IT departments, labs, Research centers and technical profession in industry.

❖ The students have plenty opportunities in the design, development and research in manufacturing enterprises, service industry and research institutes.

❖ The students can pursue their higher studies by taking up M.Sc., (Electronics)/ (Electronics and Communication System), M.Sc., Computer Science/ IT, M.B.A, M.C.A, B.Ed., etc.

❖ The graduates of Electronics and Communication Science will be able to build a brilliant career in companies like Siemens, LG, Samsung, Apple, ISRO, Videocon, Wireless

communication companies etc. IT industries such as Infosys, Wipro, TCS, HCL, Cognizant and such others are also available as options for career- building.

❖ They can also appear for competitive examinations like UPSC Engineering Services and join the government organizations like National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Govt. of India, BSNL at higher posts.

 

COURSE OUTCOME:

The student graduating with the Degree B.Sc. Electronics and Communication Science should be able to

1. Acquire core competency in Electronics

2. Use modern technology and software tools for professional practices

3. Solve Electronics related problems by apply knowledge of mathematics and science

4. Demonstrate electronics experiments, analyze, implement designs and manage electronic systems.

5. Analyze, formulate and solve the problems in various disciplines of Electronics. Integrate as a member of a multidisciplinary team with sense of ethics, integrity and socialresponsibility
