About us

 

Sanskrit has been a Language paper for all Major UG students in CBCS(Choice Based Credit System) strictly adhering to the Madras University’s syllabus.

With a modest start from 2013, the students’ strength of the Sanskrit Department has increasing over the academic years.

The Sanskrit Department is currently functioning with a good number of students.

Origin of Language

Sanskrit is the historical Indo-Aryan language.

It is a primary liturgical Language of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism.

Sanskrit is the official language of Uttarakhand.

 

The Sanskrit literature encompasses Poetry drama as well as scientific, technical, philosophical and dharma sasthra texts.

 

Vision of the Department

 

Create learning culture in students about the Sanskrit Language.

Enable the Sanskrit Speaking skills of the students.

Empower students to acquire attitudes, values, and skills that enhance

cross-cultural communication.

 

Mission of the Department

 

To impart knowledge in Sanskrit Language.

Encourage the students to pursue higher education.

To provide quality teachings and teach value of life.

 

Course Outcome

 

In the First Year, the students learn the Basics of Sanskrit.

They learn Shubhashithas (Wise Sayings) and Panchathantra, which teaches them moral values.

They learn translation of Thirukkural which enlighten their knowledge in Sanskrit.

They learn about our great epics Ramayana and Mahabharatha.

They come to know more about Maha Kaavyaas, Dramas and Alankaras.

They also develop Grammatical knowledge by learning Shabdas and usage of Past, Present and Future Tense, which enable good reading and writing skills.

As a final outcome, students learn moral values, Sanskrit literature and definitely a profound knowledge in Sanskrit Language.

 

ACHIEVEMENT OF THE DEPARTMENT

 

With a modest start from 2013, the students’ strength of the Sanskrit Department has increasing over the academic years.

Most of the students pass with First Class & Distinction.

The Department of Sanskrit has been continuously producing University Rank Holders right from 2013
