1971

1975

The shift system was rechristened as Evening College. The first Post Graduate courses - M.Com and M.Sc. Mathematics- came into being

The institution became a full-fledged Under Graduate and Post Graduate College.

1976

Library block opened by His Excellency Shri. Mohanlal Sukhadia, Governor of Tamilnadu.

1977

Silver Jubilee of A.M. Jain College celebrated. Silver Jubilee celebrations were inaugurated by His Excellency Shri Mohanlal Sukhadia, Governor of Tamilnadu.

Upgraded as a Research Institute.

1982 

1983

Bhagwan Mahaveer Gyan Bhavan opened by His Excellency Sardar Gyani Zail Singh, President of India.

1986

Inauguration of Mohanmull Chordia Jain Industrial Training Centre by His Excellency Sri. R. Venkatraman,Vice President of India.      

1992

The Main Building was converted into a square shape by Constructing Classrooms from staircase and all-round were connected

2000

Computer Centre started with 50 Computers.

2001

2002

New Block for Mohanmull Chordia Jain Industrial Training Centre (13960 sq.ft.). Post Graduate Programme M.Sc. IT has its inception in Evening College.

Golden Jubilee of A.M. Jain College celebrated.

2003

College turned to co-education institute.

2006

UGC NAAC Accredited.

Computer Centre has been expanded as a full-fledged Centre with nearly 280 terminals connected to four servers through a network system.

2009

2010

  • Second Floor with 22 Class Rooms was constructed in the Main Building (31850 sq.ft.)

  • Physics & Chemistry department were renovated and given a Fresh look.

  • Canteen was renovated and new cooking gadgets were provided to Caters the needs of the Students.

  • RO was installed to provide safe drinking water to the entire campus.

  • 250 KVA Generator was installed to augment the power supply.

  • New Library with modern facilities & Software was opened for    

  • Shift II in the Main Block.

  • Staff rooms are created with interiors.

2011

  • State of the Art Seminar Hall and Conference Hall were made available in the Main Block for conducting seminars.

  • New toilets in Ground, First and Second Floors separately for boys and girls were constructed in the Main Block.

  • Paved Road work with an area of 59000 sq.ft. was made available.

  • Construction of new class rooms in the corner of the Main Building Ground, First and Second Floors. (6076 sq.ft.)

  • Day college Library with mezzanine floor created in the Ground Floor of Main Building.

  • Agurchand Manmull Jain School was started with a strength of 8 students.

  • CCTV installed in campus for safety and surveillance of the students.

2015

  • Girls Hostel inaugurated. Ground Floor 8 rooms and First Floor 9 Rooms (17 rooms) with a dinning hall. With 50 inmate capacity.

  • The Renovation of Boys Hostel on Campus Ground and First Floor (24550 sq.ft.) with 47 rooms, Recreation Hall, Study Room, Dining Hall, Washing Room.

2016

  • Solar Panel installed in the Roof of Main Block to supplement the power supply.

  • The Renovated Boys Hostel on Campus became functional from June 2016. It can accommodate 150 Boys.

  • Construction of II Floor in Annex Building (14380 sq.ft.) with 10 Class rooms, 2 Staff Rooms and 1 Seminar Hall.

  • Administrative Block in School constructed (17520 sq.ft.) with  Secretary room, Conference Hall, Principal Room, Reception, Office Room, Store Rooms in Ground Floor, 6 Class Rooms and 1 Staff Room each in First and Second Floor.

  • Construction of 2 ITI Blocks (21480 sq.ft.) A-Block having Principal Room, Office Room, 4 Labs and in the Ground Floor & 4 Class Rooms, 1 Lab, 1 Library, Audio Visual and Placement Cell in the mezzanine floor. B-Block having 2 Labs in the Ground Floor, 2 Class Rooms, Tool Room, Store Room and Exam Room in the mezzanine Floor.

  • Certified by AGQR with ISO 9001 : 2008

2017

  • Remodeling, designing of the existing Industrial Training Centre for Kinder Garden Students. Pre KGBlock (4370 sq.ft.) with 6 classrooms. LKG Block (8630 sq.ft.) with 7 class rooms, Audio Visual Room, Staff Room and UKG Block with 12 class rooms were made

  • Developing the School Play Grounds, Construction of Compound Wall, Canteen in School was made available.

  • Construction of New Block behind the Kumbhat Block was started (77694 sq.ft.) of Ground, First and Second Floor. 54 Class rooms with 9 staff rooms and rest rooms will be made available. SEED (Students Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Development Cell) was inaugurated and two outlets were opened

  • KSHEERA SAGAR – an Aavind Franchise and

  • PUSTAK BHARTI – the Stationery Shop.

  • Ladies Hostel II Floor (4240 sq.ft) with 9 rooms was constructed. Renovation and Extension of Canteen (8524 sq.ft.)

  •  Inauguration of A.M. Jain Health Centre.       

2018

2012

  • Diamond Jubilee Year.

  • Stone for the Construction of the School Main Block (1,07,100 sq.ft.) was laid by Sri. Parasmullji Chordia.

  • Padma Shri. Mohanmullji Chordia Book Bank Scheme was launched to benefit deserving students.

  • Further paver road for an area of 14800 sq.ft. laid in the College.

  • Main Entrance Arch with Security Room made available.

  • Computer lab fully revamped with 6 labs and new interiors having 370 Computers with High end server and printers with online UPS of 174.5 KVA to augment the needs of the increasing strength of the College.

2013

  • Bhagwan Mahaveer Gyan Bhawan Auditorium was Renovated and made State-of-the-Art with Air conditioners, Projector, Green Room and additional staircase.

  • Visual Communication Lab with Editing Studio, Drawing Studio, of Shooting Floor, Dubbing Station was made available in the basement of the Gyan Bhavan. (12330 sq.ft.)

  • Remodeling of Old Library First Floor into 4 Class rooms, 1 Staff Room (6300 sq.ft.)

2014

  • New State-of-the-Art Visual Communication Block was inaugurated on Founders Day and Foundation Stone were laid for Girls Hostel

  • Ground and First Floor (8480 sq.ft.) and Indoor Stadium (11250 sq.ft.)

  • Old Hostel Ground and First renovated to Annex Block (34890 sq.ft.) with 24 Class rooms, 7 Staff Rooms, with Electronics and Communication Lab, Drawing Lab, IDD Lab, Textile Lab, Printing and Dyeing and Micro Processor Lab.

  • NAAC Reacredited.

  • Ladies Hostel III Floor & Terrace (8480 sq.ft.) on Hall to be used as indoor sports as well as recreation are for the inmates development was made available.

  • NAAC Reaccredited.

  • Inauguration of Agurchand Manmull Jain Literacy Program – as CSR activity by training the local uneducated elders by the students of the College.

  • Inauguration of Agurchand Manmull Jain Sports Academy to train the College, School Students in overall development in Sports.

1937 - 1970

College with its First Grade Status shifted to its permanent building in Meenambakkam. The foundation stone of the Main building at Meenambakkam was laid by Dr. Sri. S. Radhakrishnan, the then Vice-President of India, while Sri. A. Lakshmanasamy Mudaliar, Vice Chancellor of the Madras University, presided over the function. National Cardet Corps., – Third Madras Battalion started

1952

Formation of Sri S. S. Jain Educational Society

His Excellency Sri. Prakasa, the then Governor of Madras, formally inaugurated the college. College had a humble beginning in Jain Boarding Home, T.Nagar Chennai.

1954

1958

Hostel was started in the college campus with 100 inmates.

Foundation stone of Shri. B.M Kumbhat Memorial Block laid by Shri. A. Lakshmanasamy Mudaliar, Vice Chancellor, University of Madras. Foundation stone of Shri. Somasundara Reddiar Hostel laid by Hon. Shri K. Kamraj, Chief Minister of Madras.

1962

Shri. B.M. Kumbhat Memorial Block opened by Shri. Ghanshyamdas Birla.

1969

Shift System introduced in College.

1970

N. S. S unit of the College has started functioning.
