72nd Independence day Celebration

The 72nd Independence day was celebrated at the A.M.Jain College with the true patriotic spirit. The Chief Guest of the celebrations was Shri. Pannalal Chordia, Committee member of the College, The Independence Day Celebrations began with Shri. Pannalal Chordia receiving the Guard of Honour presented by the cadets of the NCC Signal wing. He then inspected the flag area and hoisted the National flag. This was followed by the Flag Salute and the National Anthem. The Principal of the college, Dr. N. Venkataramanan administered the National Pledge which was duly taken by all the participants who were present at the venue. Shri. Pannalal Chordia extended his Independence day greetings to one and all. The Principal Dr. N.Venkataramanan who addressed the gathering, gave an inspiring speech on what the true meaning of Independence is and the relevance of the Freedom struggle today. The students of the college then hosted a variety of cultural programmes: patriotic song, classical dance, motivational speeches in English, Tamil and Hindi left the audience very appreciative and pensive about the unmatchable bravery and valor of the Freedom fighters.

The events concluded with the distribution of sweets to one and all who were present. 

International Day of

YOGA

23 NCC Cadets and 01 Associate NCC Officer of A.M.Jain College of 1 TN Signal Company NCC Unitperformed 24 Yoga Asanas commencing with Prayer and concluding with Pranayams, Meditation and Sankalp (Pledge) on this longest day of the year being the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF YOGA on 21st June 2018 from 0700 to 0800 hours at our A.M.Jain College Campus. The programmeconcluded by rendering the NCC Song, National Anthem and the unique NCC Claps. Refreshments were provided to all the participants by 1 TN Signal Company NCC Unit. Breakfast to the College Profs, NCC Company Commanders, Army Staff was provided by A.M.Jain College.

 Dr.N.Venkataramanan, the Principal of A.M.Jain College being the Certifying Officer and the Chief Guest Dr.G.Elangovan addressed the gathering. Subedar Major Sunil Kumar & Havaldar Saravanan of 1 TN Signal Company NCC supervised the performance of the entire event. The Guest of Honour Dr.Capt.Thulasiram, Associate Prof in Mathematics also motivated the cadets.

 Lt.G.Mahaveer, the Company Commanders of Signal NCC UnitofA.M.Jain College enabled the practice and performance of Yoga Asanas in our college on 19th, 20th& 21st June 2018 and all other preparations for the conduct of this mega event. 

       The Union Ministry of AYUSH, New Delhi has been pushing this great initiative since 2015. The great institution of NCC has been actively fulfilling the same. On December 11 in 2014, the United Nations General Assembly had declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga on the call from our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi Saheb. It is great honour that since 2015 this International Day of Yoga is being performed in our college campus. 

BLOOD DONATION CAMP

A Blood donation camp was organized and conducted by the Department of NCC of A.M.Jain College campus with the able expertise from the departmental of Blood transfusion of the Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R.

Medical University.

The College principal Dr. R. Rajendiran and the NCC Official from Indian Army Sri. P. V. Rao inaugurated the camp and congratulated the college NCC units for taking up this onerous task

of collecting 98 units of blood from the volunteering Staff, NCC Cadets and the student donors of A.M.Jain college for the Needy patients more particularly at the Government based Hospitals. and also

published in Rajasthan Pathrika Newspaper.

ANTI-CRACKERS AWARENESS

From the Meenambakkam based A.M.Jain college, a 4km long Rally on “Anti-Crackers Awareness” was conducted in its adjoining areas and on the G.S.T Road by the 400 odd Students and Staff of A.M.Jain College displaying the Banners, placards; raising slogans and distributing the Pamphlets to the public.

Earlier the pamphlets were distributed in each class wherein the willing students after understanding the need to saying `NO` to Crackers undertook pledge in writing. The Principal Dr. R. Rajendiran, Staff, Willing students including NCC cadets and NSS Volunteers formed a human chain in the campus and all together undertook the pledge on not bursting the crackers throughout their life. The Principal flagged off the Rally.

Swachh Bharat

On 27.09.2018, the 20 NCC Cadets of 1 Tamilnadu Signal Company NCC and 10 NSS Volunteers of AM Jain College, its Principal Dr N Venkataramanan and Prof.(Lt.) G.Mahaveer lifted plastic covers, carry bags, papers, fooditem covers from the railway tracks and platforms at Meenambakkam Railway Station along with the railway officials led by the Principal Chief Operations Manager of Southern Railways Sri S.Anantharaman. Both the teams took pledge that they will keep their house, neighbourhood, place of work clean without littering hereinafter and will give 100 hours effort towards the Swachha Bharat Abhiyan Programme of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji.

In furtherance to the variety in its ongoing Cleanliness Initiative, the NCC Cadets and NSS Volunteers (both together 117 in number) of A.M.Jain College cleaned the campus of AM Jain College and its surrounding streets/road sides on 26 Sept 2018 and collected 14 bags of wastes comprising plastic covers/carry bags, papers etc. The Principal Dr.N.Venkataramanan and the Commanding Officer of 1 TN Signal Company NCC Lt.Col.S.Shashidhar participated in the Swachchta programme and appreciated the well-motivated cadets and volunteers towards their cleanliness drive. Thereafter the cadets and volunteers lifted plastics, plastic covers/carry bags, thermacoals, papers & other wastes from the Pazhavanthangal area and collected 27 bags full of littered waste materials. In total 41 bags of collected wastes were dropped in the dustbins kept for the purpose at various places.

Southern Railways invited NCC team of AM Jain College to aid in  efforts for its Swachata Mission.

11. SERVICE TO the PUBLIC IN QUEUE & INDIAN BANK OF NANGANALLUR DURING DEMONITISATION  

On 19.11.2016 onwards the cadets and Officers of A.M.Jain Units of NCC had aided the public standing in queue especially the senior citizen by filling their forms, slips etc, offering water and providing them the sitting facility. Cadets provided vital basic information to the public and helped the officials of Indian Bank, Nanganallur during demonitisation. For four days, the service to the Public and bank was continued. 

12. TREE PLANTATION PROGRAMME  

On 30.11.2016, 44 saplings (tree) plantation programme organized by the Cadets and Officers of A.M.Jain Units of NCC was inaugurated by Dr.Ezhumalai (Prof. in Bio-technology, University of Madras). Principal Dr.R.Balaji, Senior Profs, Army Personnel and each Cadet had planted a sapling atleast (44 total) and such were tied with stick to avoid wastage of or damages to the planted saplings. 

13. DIGITAL PAYMENT AWARENESS

The Signal Unit cadets, Company Commander, Profs, Principal of A.M.Jain College and the Permanent instructional Staff from Signal Unit had enabled awareness on the Digital Payment in each class by the display of banner, placards and lecture. Later the cadets, Company Commander and the Permanent Instructional Staff from Signal Unit conducted a rally on Digital Payment Awarness in the College & areas adjoining the college. Awareness continued till 27th Jan 2017.

14. 68th  REPUBLIC  DAY  CELEBRATION & TREE PLANTATION PROGRAMME

The students/cadets, Profs incl. the Company Commanders and the Principal of A.M.Jain college honoured the National Flag on 68th republic day celebration on 26.11.2017. The cadets presented Guard of Honour. The Principal hoisted the National Flag and administered the National pledge to all gathered. The Guest of Honour Dr.Ponnappan and the Principal addressed the gathering on the occasion highlighting the continuing importance of Republic Day. The cadets & students presented the march–past and salute to the Principal and Guest of Honour . Later on, around 27 saplings were planted by the cadets, NCC Officers, Principal, Profs and the Guest of Honour.       

15 .MEGA-TREE PLANTATION

The NCC Cadets, students, Profs incl. Company Commanders & Principal of A.M.JAIN College along With Mr. Jayant, Manager - Alliance Group at Pallavaram carried out mega Tree Plantation prog. at A.M.Jain College and   nearby areas in 2nd week of Feb 2017. 136 plant saplings were provided by Alliance Group.  The Cadets and students of B.Com CS are daily watering the planted saplings. 

 16-NATIONAL CONVENTION ON DIGITAL FINANCIAL LITERACY BY UNION MINISTRY FOR HRD.NEW DELHI

On 8TH March 2017, SGT. K. Vignesh and CPL M.Hariharan of Signal Unit attended a Nation Convention on the Digital Financial Literacy at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on the invitation from the Union Ministry for Human Resource Development.  These cadets were honoured along with 400 odd volunteer students who were adjudged as best volunteers for the awareness campaign on digital financial literacy.

17-NATIONAL SEMINAR ON THE ROLE OF YOUTH IN NATION BUILDING ON 13.03.2017

The 27 Cadets of our college had attended National Seminar on the Role of Youth in Nation Building on 13.03.2017 at D.G.Vaishnav College. Technical session on career opportunity in UPSC, Defence and Private Sector, Value Addition for the Future and Direction to Destination were the subject of seminar.   

18-WATER CONSERVATION DAY 22.03.2017

On 22ND March 2017 being the Water Conservation Day the NCC Cadets and NCC Company Commander of Minambakkam based A.M.Jain College Carried out an Awareness Campaign on savings water and avoiding the   wastage and waste usage of water , by display of banner and distribution of pamphlets to the students and staff of A.M.Jain college and also to the people residing in streets adjoining the college campus.

The NCC Company Commander, Senior Profs and the Principal  Dr.R.Balaji all gave brief lecture to the studens in a classroom on the need and mode of water conservation to the students in a class room. The NCC Cadets displayed placards and banner during the lecture and continued passing of vital message on water conservation  by lectures to the students in other classes.

The day being Water Conservation Day, the planted saplings in the campus were watered using  buckets instead of water pipe and the NCC team resolved to continue watering by buckets only and not  by water pipe as a measure to save the water in the campus. The two NCC Officials from the Army Units of Artillery and Signal too actively participated in the programme.

 19. NCC PARADES

The Battery and Signal Unit of A.M.Jain College NCC completed 15 and 17.5 parades for 1st year cadets and 2nd, 3rd year cadets respectively for the academic Year 2016-2017.Each parade consists of 6 periods and each period shall be of atleast 45 mintues. Yoga, Physical exercises, Drill with and without Arms, Shramdhan (volunteer service), educational/Cultural/social events and lectures on the subjects stated in the syllabus were done during parades.

 20.A CADET SELECTED FOR THE PRESTIGIOUS FINAL CAMP FOR NCC SPORTS AT NEW DELHI

Cadet Dhanuswaran of A.M Jain Signal Unit performed excellently well at various camps, competed in Basket Ball Competition at Unit level, Group level, then Directorate level  in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andaman. Based on gradual selections upon good performance  level by level, he was selected as a key player in the team of TN P A Directorate for NCC Sports which competed with teams of other Directorates at New Delhi.   

The Director General of NCC at the New Delhi based National-level Head Quarter of NCC states that the Company Commander being the main key functionary of NCC in Colleges/ Schools is in control of the cadets and responsible to plan and organize training with the assistance of the Permanent Instructional (PI) staff, detailed by the NCC Unit. The DG NCC further states that the NCC being a part of the educational programme, its primary responsibility rests with the Principal / Headmaster. The close association between the Company Commander, the Principal / Headmaster and the NCC Unit for all the activities of the sub-unit in their institution will facilitate the Company Commander doing well.

The Provision on Enrolment envisages that the cadets enrolled shall be of good character. The Rules on Discipline provides that the Company Commander will be responsible for the training and discipline of the cadets placed under their command and shall exercise the powers of command over all cadets and over Junior Commissioned Officers, Warrant Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers etc. Every cadet shall obey the orders and carry out the directions of Company Commander and Principal / Headmaster as well.

The two Units of NCC in our college namely, 1 Tamil Nadu Battery NCC and 1 Tamil Nadu Signal Company NCC are officiated by the Associate NCC Officers being the Company Commanders – Dr.Capt. T. Thulasiram (Associate Professor in Mathematics) and Lt. G.Mahaveer (Asst. Professor in Corporate Secretaryship) respectively. The present report is an attempt to highlight to all the scores of educational, social service, cultural and training related activities / events carried out by our Cadets and Company Commanders.

 1. NCC B & C Certificate Examination conducted by the Ministry of Defence

The 44 and 18 cadets appeared for ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate Examination respectively in Feb - March 2016. Barring one cadet, all have passed in the abovesaid examination.  For the current academic year 2016-2017, 21 cadets have appeared for ‘B’ Certificate Examination on 17 and 18 Feb 2017 at Pachaiappas College and 22 cadets are scheduled to appear for ‘C’ Certificate Examination on 25 and 26 March 2017 at GKM Engineering College.  

2. International Day of Yoga 2016 on June 21, 2016

While our cadets and Company Commander of Battery Unit performed Yoga at YMCA ground in Nandanam, the cadets and Company Commander of Signal unit performed yoga at A.M.Jain College on 21st June 2016. The Principal Dr.R.Balaji was the Presiding and Certifying Officer. The practice for yoga was done for a period of ten days in our campus with Lt.G.Mahaveer as the Yoga Instructor. The various asanas were ceremonially performed and was reported as newsitem in the dailies. The substantial number of cadets are continuously practicing yoga asanas at their home, in college during parade days and in camps conducted in across India.

3. International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26 & 27, 2016

The cadets of Battery Unit participated in the Anti-Drug Abuse rally at Marina beach on 26 June 2016. The cadets of Signal Unit created awareness on Anti-Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in each class in A.M.Jain College by the display of placards, banner and lecture by Principal, Company Commander and cadets. Later a rally was also conducted inside the college campus and in areas around the college. It was reported as newsitem in the daily.   

4.  Blood Donation Camp on 27.7.2016

With expertise assistance from the specialist of Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, a Blood Donation Camp was conducted on 27.7.16 in our campus by College NCC Units. 76 units of blood was donated by the cadets, students & Professors. The Principal Dr.R.Balaji and the Officer Commanding Col. V.M.Naik inaugurated this noble cause. The same was reported in the newsdaily. 

6. ORGAN DONATION AWARENESS 12.08.2016

First time in our college campus a unique form of social awareness cause i.e, Organ Donation was made in our campus on 12.08.2016. The Principal inaugurated the same by way of lecture to the students of a class and display of banner/placards, pamphlets distribution by the Cadets of Signal Unit. The Company Commander and the cadets in rotation had continued the awareness lecture etc in all other classes. All the students/staff by miscall to the Phone No. 8080055555 had registered their support to the Awareness Campaign on this unique of organ Donation. Few from our college had even registered through online system their willingness for donation of their organs. The campaign was reported in the news daily. 

7. HUMAN CHAIN FORMATION ON ORGAN DONATION DAY 13.08.2016

 In furtherance to above of 12.08.2016, a Human Chain was formed by cadets of Battery and Signal Unit, students, NCC Commanders, Senior Profs and the  Principal. The Principal, NCC Officers, Senior Profs briefed the gathering about the need for Organ Donation/its awareness and appreciated the endeavour by our college NCC Units for the same.

8. 70TH INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

The Cadets of Signal Unit had presented the Guard of Honour to the Principal who had hoisted the flag, made all present to take up the pledge, addressed the gathering by his Independence Day Speech and distributed sweets to all. The meritorious NCC Cadets and students were honoured with prizes. The cadets and students performed cultural programmes on patriotism and National Subjects.

9. GUARD OF HONOUR 

The Cadets had been presenting the Guard of Honour to the visiting VIPs. 

10. INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANING DAY

 The A.M.Jain Signal Unit cadets cleaned 6 kms stretch of Marina beach from Thiruvallur Nagar to Neelankarai on the occasion of International Day for Coastal Cleaning on 17 Sept 2016. It was reported in the daily.
