Scholarships

Facilities

The College has extensive playgrounds and facilities for healthy physical development. Football, Hockey, Basketball, Kabaddi, Ball Badminton, Table-Tennis and Athletics are encouraged. All students are advised to use the facilities between 1.30 and 6.30 p.m. students will not be provided with playing materials before 1.30 p.m. on working days.

Tournaments

The teams to represent the college in the various games in the inter-collegiate and other tournaments will be selected at the beginning of the academic year.

 

Selection is based on proficiency in both games and academics. The college annual intra- mural tournaments and athletic meet will be conducted every year in the last term. The students of the college are divided into four houses Cheran, Choloan, Pandyan and Pallavan. The intra-mural tournaments and athletics will be conducted on inter-house basis.

Scholarships

Tag Corporation Sport Award: Cash Award of Rs.500/ each will be given to two outstanding sportsmen of the college with an unblemished academic record and recommendation from the Director of Physical Education.

Conduct

Students shall conform to the rules and regulations while on playfields. Smoking is strictly prohibited in and around the playfields. Students shall come with proper playing kit for the respective games. Materials received by them should be handled carefully and returned without any damage or loss. No outsider shall be brought to the field without the permission of the physical director.

The daily activities will be conducted under the supervision of the Director of Physical Education with the assistance of the captains of the respective games.

ANNUAL INTRAMURAL COMPETITION

The Annual Intramural Competitions were conducted from December 2011 to February 2012. Boys and Girls enthusiastically participated in large numbers.

  • A. Vijayalakshmi II B.Com (General) and P. Janani of II B.Com (General) in girls category

Were declared the champion athletes for the Year 2011-12. The inter class team competitions generated a lot of competitive interest among the students. B.Com and BBA in boys category and B.Com (G) in girls category were declared the team champions for the year 2011-12

Mohanmull Chordia Cup

Padma Shri Mohanmullji Chordia Gold Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament was instituted in the year 1961 and it remained one of the prestigious cricket tournaments in the 60’s and 70’s and has gathered considerable attention and popularity since its relaunch in 2007-08. The Cup is fittingly named after Padma Shri Mohanmullji Chordia, ( 1902 – 1984) the founder of the college, and an ardent lover of cricket. This tournament is conducted every year and is open for both men and women.
